Information We Collect
Studio Signal collects the minimum information necessary to provide our service:
- Account Information: Email address and name when you create an account.
- Usage Data: Anonymized analytics (page views, feature usage) to improve the product. We never store raw query text on our servers after processing.
- Device Tokens: Push notification tokens if you opt into notifications. These are used solely to deliver morning briefs.
- Payment Information: For Pro subscribers, payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We do not store full credit card details on our servers.
How We Use Information
We use your information exclusively to provide, maintain, and improve Studio Signal. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
AI-Generated Content
Studio Signal uses artificial intelligence models to generate research, analysis, and briefings. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or errors. All outputs are for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, investment, or professional advice. Always verify AI-generated information independently before making business decisions.
Slack Workspace Data
When Studio Signal is installed in a Slack workspace, the following data is accessed and processed:
- Messages mentioning the bot: When you @mention Studio Signal or send it a direct message, we process the message text to generate a research response. Message content is sent to our AI provider for processing and is not stored after the response is delivered.
- Slash command inputs: Text entered with
/studiosignal, /research, or /brief is processed the same way as mentions.
- Workspace identification: We store your Slack team ID, team name, and bot access token to deliver responses to the correct workspace. This data is stored securely in our database.
- User IDs: Slack user IDs are logged for usage analytics only (e.g., tracking query volume). We do not access user profiles, emails, or other personal information from Slack.
Studio Signal does not read or store messages in channels where it is not explicitly mentioned. It does not access files, user profiles, channel histories, or any data beyond what is directly sent to it.
Data Retention
We retain data for the following periods:
- Account data (email, name, preferences): Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
- Usage analytics: Anonymized usage logs are retained for up to 12 months for product improvement, then automatically purged.
- Slack installation data (team ID, bot token): Retained while the app is installed. Deleted within 30 days of app uninstallation or upon request.
- AI query content: Not retained. Query text is processed in real-time and discarded after the response is generated.
- Payment records: Managed by Stripe per their retention policies. We retain only subscription status and plan type.
- One-time promotional eligibility: After account deletion, we may retain a one-way hash of your email address (not your email in plain text) and/or a flag on your Stripe customer record to prevent repeated use of limited retention discounts. This minimal data is kept only for abuse prevention, not for marketing.
Data Access and Deletion
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights:
- Self-service: You can delete your account directly from within the Studio Signal app by navigating to your profile and selecting "Delete Account."
- Email request: Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Data Access Request" or "Data Deletion Request." Include the email address associated with your account.
- Slack workspace data: To request deletion of Slack installation data, email us from the email associated with the workspace administrator account or uninstall the app from your Slack workspace.
We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and complete the action within 30 days.
Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher. Authentication tokens are managed via secure HTTP-only cookies. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt.
